Author Ben Mikaelsen Meets Churchville

Mr. Ben Mikaelsen spent time with Churchville Students and staff on a most exciting day.  He spoke openly about how difficult it was for him growing up in Central America and then relocating to Minnesota.  He struggled with the language and with being different.  Mr. Mikaelsen spoke openly about how we all need to have dreams,  we need to commit to making our dreams come true and we can not quit.  His presentation was humorous and serious and left our school with a positive feeling about his books and his message.  Students asked questions of Mr. Mikaelsen about his many novels and at the end of the assembly many students stood in line to receive a personalized signed copy of one of his books.  Mr. Mikaelsen's novel Touching Spirit  Bear was our All School Read in 2014.  This year with Mr. Mikaelsen present we announced that the 2015 All School Read will be the sequel to last year's novel entitled The Ghost of Spirit Bear.
