ELMHURST, Ill. — Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 announced today that 11 of its 12 schools received an Exemplary designation on the 2026 Illinois Report Card. The remaining school received an Approaching Exemplary designation, placing every District 205 school in one of the state’s top two categories.
The district shared a recap of the results and other highlights at its annual State of the District event last night at York Community High School. The presentation can be viewed by visiting District 205’s YouTube page.
“Today’s results reflect the commitment and hard work of our students, staff, families and community,” said Superintendent Dr. Keisha Campbell. “We are proud of this progress, and we know there is still work to do to ensure every student has the support and opportunities to reach their full potential. We will continue to learn from the data and build on what is working across our schools.”
The Illinois Report Card assigns school designations based on multiple factors, including student growth, proficiency and graduation rates. District data shows strong rates of proficiency and growth across all levels. District 205 has held a strong focus on high-quality professional learning aligned with instructional materials and assessments, along with leadership development that strengthens school-based instructional teams. Additionally, chronic absenteeism across all schools continued to show a decrease.
These results reflect the systemic improvements that have been made over the past five years, including enhancements to middle school schedules, high-quality curricular adoptions, enhanced student programming, strong professional development, and the alignment of staff around the work that matters most for student learning.
As a unit district, District 205 recognizes the important foundation that begins at Madison and their elementary school buildings, preparing students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed as they transition into middle school and then York high school and Bridges Transition.
“We’re proud of this recognition and of the work taking place in every school.,” Dr. Campbell said. “State designations offer one viewpoint of school performance. We continue to look at a range of measures as we support student growth and improvement across the District.”
